Electrician Louwmans can help you connect a separate cooking group for your induction hob or electric hob. With our expertise and experience, we can ensure that your cooking equipment functions optimally and that the electrical installation in your home remains safe and stable. Whether you already cook electrically or are planning to switch, it is certainly worth investing in a separate cooking group.Β
Connecting a cooking group offers numerous advantages that can significantly improve your cooking experience. Firstly, a separate cooking group ensures that your cooking appliances can perform optimally. When you use an electric stove, an induction hob or an electric oven, these appliances often require a high power to work efficiently. Most hobs consume a lot of energy and you need to be able to supply the required power. By assigning a separate group to your cooking appliances, you can be sure that your electric hob gets enough power and is not limited by other electrical appliances in your home.
In addition, a cooking group contributes to a safer operation of your electrical installation. When you connect your cooking equipment to a separate group, you prevent overloading of the electrical system. In this way, you can reduce the risk of overheating of wiring and blowing fuses. A separate cooking group ensures that your electrical installation remains stable, even when you use powerful cooking equipment. You do not always have to purchase a new fuse box for this, but you do have to call in an electrician to prevent incorrect connection.
When connecting a cooking group, you can choose between a 3-phase or a 2-phase connection, depending on the type of electrical system you have and the requirements of your cooking equipment.
To be able to cook electrically (induction or ceramic, maximum 7.3 kW), you need a cooking group. This group consists of two linked installation machines that are connected as a single unit to theΒ earth leakage circuit breakerΒ . This divides the power of your cooker over two electrical parts. The connection of your cooker to the fuse box is controlled via the Perilex system. A cooking group is specifically designed as a 3-phase machine to connect high-power cookers.
A 3-phase connection withΒ a perilex plugΒ is used when you want to use more powerful cooking equipment, such as multi-zoneΒ induction hobsΒ or professional cookers. A 3-phase connection distributes the electrical load evenly over three phases, resulting in a stable power supply to your cooking equipment. However, this connection requires a special connection in your meter cupboard and possibly adjustments to the electrical wiring. You will also need to call in an electrician for this.
If your cooking appliances require less power or if your electrical system does not support 3-phase connection, you can opt for a 2-phase connection. A 2-phase connection divides the electrical load over two phases, which still provides sufficient power for most household cooking appliances. This type of connection can be a good option for smaller kitchens. So there are different phases, and you should look at which one you need for your situation.
If you are considering installing a separate cooking group, it is understandable that you are interested in the costs involved. The total cost varies depending on several factors, such as the complexity of the installation, the type of cooking group you need and the labor hours required to complete the installation. In addition, the electrician must install a ground fault circuit interrupter and pull wires.
The cheapest option is to simplyΒ have an extra group installedΒ without complications. This can be done for an average amount of β¬100. For each extra group, an average of β¬60 – β¬70 is added. If you want to have multiple groups installed, including a power group, you must take into account the capacity of each group. Each group can handle a maximum of 3500 watts of energy consumption, while power groups are used for devices with a capacity between 7.4kWatt and 11.4kWatt. By calculating this, you can determine how many groups and what type of group you need.Β
Are you currently looking for a professional who can help you with this? Then contact our electrician. We can ensure that the cooking group is connected correctly and meets the safety standards. With the right components, connections, phase wires and our knowledge of theΒ 3-phase group boxΒ , we will provide you with a professional installation.
A commonly used connection for cooking groups is the Perilex connection. This connection uses a special Perilex plug and socket to ensure a safe and stable connection. Installing a Perilex connection and Perilex plug requires professional knowledge and experience, because correctly connecting the wiring is essential for safe use. Electrician Louwmans can arrange this new connection for you and replace your current connection. Connecting a cooker group for your electric cooker is therefore a good idea. This way you can cook electrically from now on.
When installing a Perilex connection, a special cable is used that is suitable for the high power that a cooking group requires. This cable is connected to a Perilex socket in the kitchen and to a suitable connection in the fuse box. It is important to connect the wiring in the correct way, whereby we ensure that the wires are connected in the correct places and that we follow the safety regulations to ensure that everything works safely. This way you have an electrical connection that you can rely on.

We will always recommend using a certified installer for safety when connecting an extra cooking group. It is also possible that insurance will not pay out if problems occur with a non-professionally installed installation.
According to the current NEN1010 regulations, a cooker group must always be installed behind an earth leakage protection. This is a change from the previous NEN1010, where it was sometimes possible to connect a cooker group without an earth leakage, provided that the socket was not intended for general use and was often concealed in a kitchen cupboard.
If you have a 3-phase connection at home, you can choose a power group as a cooking group. A power group is always preferred because you can connect heavier appliances to it. A cooking group consists of 2 linked groups with one joint lever. With a perilex socket (5 openings) in the kitchen you have power current: that is a large cooking group of 4 linked groups with 1 lever, for both 2- and 3-phase hobs.
The cooking group you need depends on the maximum power of the electric hob. For a 1 phase distribution box we use a 2P+2N (2 poles + 2 neutral) cooker group. With a 3 phase distribution box there are two options:
β A 2P+2N cooker group
β A power cooking group
With a power cooking group heavier cooking equipment can be connected. So if you have 3 phases, preferably choose a power cooking group.
Perilex can be connected to various types of connections, namely 1-, 2- and 3-phase connections. The connection you need in your home depends on whether you need power for a sauna or induction hob, for example. New-build homes often have a 3-phase connection as standard because they are not connected to the gas network. Older homes usually use a 1-phase or 2-phase connection. If you want to switch to a 3-phase connection, it is best to have this done by an electrician. Do not do this yourself, because this can cause dangerous situations.
We are happy to help you with your electrical problems. From solving malfunctions to installing sockets and fuse boxes.
